End of April this year, Google is discontinuing its Adsense Video Units.

Adsense Video units were introduced by Google in October 2007. These were introduced as an option for publishers to embed relevant video ad content streamed from Google partners. In other words, this was Adsense, but in the video form.

This option was available only for English Language websites belonging to publishers in the United States.

In a recent blog post Google has announced that they are now looking to shut down the Adsense video unit because it “hasn’t had the impact hoped for.” Starting from March 27, the option to sign up for video ad units is not available for new publishers.

This does not affect video ads that sometimes appear in place of image ads.
