Nokia eyeing the PC market

3 March 2009 No Comment

n810There had been rumors in the industry about Nokia’s plans to move into the PC market. A recent comment from Nokia’s Chief Executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo now confirms this.

In reply to a question asking about Nokia’s Laptop plans, Kallasvuo said that they are “looking very actively also at this opportunity”.

While you don’t see many laptop manufacturers move into the PC market, many manufacturers now seem to be thinking that having a presence in both these markets would make sense. Nokia could be the first major player to enter the PC market after Samsung moved in late last year.

On the other side, the No. 3 PC brand Acer had launched eight mobile phone models recently, and it’s rumored that Dell is also following the same path.
