IMDB blocked in China

11 January 2010 No Comment

IMDB (Internet Movie DataBase), the popular movie and actor database is now added to the list of websites blocked by China.

Unconfirmed rumors say that the reason for this was a documentary on Dalai Lama and Tibet that was published on IMDB website. The website says that the documentary “shows shows an unprecedented inside perspective on the Tibetan community in exile, its young generation and their struggle to free their homeland Tibet.

China has blocked many popular websites such as FaceBook, YouTube, Flickr, etc. for various reasons, and some of these have been later unblocked as well. Youtube is blocked as it hosted Tibetan protestant videos, while sites such as Flickr and Wikipedia are partially blocked.
